As a photographer, I have dreamed for a long time of doing a family photo session at Rock Ledge Ranch when the summer sunflowers are blooming in all their glory. This year, that wish came true!
Kelli spent MANY weeks thinking long and hard about where to do her family photo session this year. She chose late August because her sons' birthdays are close together at this time, and a location with sunflowers felt extra-special because big brother Zach also happened to have photos in a sunflower field when he was turning one! To add extra meaning to this session, Rock Ledge Ranch holds a special place in this family's heart - it's one of the first places they explored together as a new family of four a year ago, and Zach LOVES to run around looking at the animals here! (He was a little disappointed when the pigs would not make a cameo in photos with dad. :) )
We moved this session back a day due to a big threat of rain and I'm SO glad we did! The evening was absolutely perfect! The sun was just dipping below the bluff the big white barn sits in front of, The grass was still beautifully green, unusual for late August, and the sunflowers still just at their peak. The temperature was just right! And on this perfect evening I learned that the easiest way to make baby Cameron smile was to make choking and gagging noises. :'D I love my job! Never a dull moment! A family photo session at Rock Ledge Ranch would not be complete without poses in front of the big white barn, surrounded by sunflowers, and showing off all the love this sweet family has for one another, even in their imperfect moments like when big brother is just done, and is being bitten by mosquitoes and can't stop scratching, and when it takes monumental effort to get BOTH little boys looking and smiling at the camera at the same time (worth it!).
Kelli, the love you guys have as a family is a truly beautiful thing to witness. The love you and Ian share pours out into your boys and the love they have for each of you, and for each other! The way Cameron looks adoringly at Zach and laughs at his antics, and the care Zach shows for his brother (most of the time anyway!) are moments you'll always treasure. Hold onto these sweet little guys while you can, they are growing so, so fast! Thank you for sharing your love with me and entrusting me with these priceless memories. Documenting your family's story as y'all grow together is truly a privilege!
