Having just moved recently to Black Forest, Caroline wanted to do a motherhood session with her 3.5 month old son, just like she did with her daughter at the same age.
Creating these photos in their beautiful new home was important to Caroline, as well as finding a photographer who would be patient and make time for her littles and their needs, and I was truly honored to meet this sweet family! When Caroline mentioned she loves neutrals, I knew for sure we were going to get along really well!
Caroline, who is a lawyer, and her husband, who is a doctor having just completed his residency in Denver, relocated to Colorado Springs recently where his family lives. They were so relieved to be out of the city and into the quiet natural beauty of the forest, where their kids can grow up barefoot and surrounded by trees and stars. We celebrated her son Patrick and her daughter Erin in one of the most glorious summers I have seen in Colorado - this family, combined with the lush green grass, colorful flowers, and stunning sunset, was an absolute dream come true as a family photographer. This motherhood session was filled with exploring in the flowers, throwing petals up into the air, changing diapers, snuggling on blankets, feeding hungry tummies, playing games and giggling together. This was literally what motherhood is like - a bit messy and disorganized, go-with-the-flow, enduring patience and unconditional love through it all. Caroline understood that little people simply demand their own needs and way at times, and we were able to create some beautiful memories and moments because of this. Her littles had not had the best day. Naps were not adhered to. Her normally smiley, friendly daughter was acting grumpy and shy, not herself. I so admire Caroline for her gentleness with her children in their imperfection, for making space for them to have a less than amazing day, and simply meeting them where they are at with understanding.
Thank you, Caroline, for trusting me with this special session for y'all. What a treat it was to watch you and your babies explore the woods, pick wildflowers, and look for deer as you celebrated these sweet little lives you brought into this world. I learned so much about motherhood from our time together and am better for it, and I truly look forward to seeing your babies grow through the years!
