In many ways, college graduations don't get all the "pomp and circumstance" (if you'll forgive the pun :) ) that high school graduations do.
BUT - they are so, so important, an incredible accomplishment worth being celebrated! Especially graduating from a school as rigorous as Mines. I've known a few people to go through this small but mighty school, so I know for a fact that a diploma from CSM is VERY much earned.
Why not do senior photos for your college graduation? Many people don't think of this, maybe because their parents are not usually there to book a session for them anymore, and let's face it - we often graduate without much money in our bank accounts. :) But it's TOTALLY worth it - just take a look at Carly's gallery for proof!
I met this incredibly bright, joyful young lady on a happenstance that is always a fun story to tell. We were both skiing at Keystone one weekend, with bluebird skies. On the way home, though, a fierce storm blew through and we found ourselves in line at one of the few hotels in the tiny town of Georgetown along I-70. Seeing how long the line was and knowing that available beds might not meet the number of people behind us, I invited the stranger behind me, a young lady, to share a hotel room with me. She accepted, and it was like a breath of fresh air to enjoy chatting with her after a very stressful drive before we both fell asleep, warm and safe in our respective beds, while the storm raged outside. By morning it was calm and clear and we were able to safely head home, but we exchanged contact info first and kept in touch, spending time together on the slopes and in Golden, over the past few years.
And now Carly has graduated from Mines with her computer science degree! I know how very hard she worked for this accomplishment, through COVID, working at her job while also studying and attending classes, and dealing with other things that life threw at her along the way with her usual grace and strength. Doing this session with her was truly special, and it was also incredibly FUN to get creative and capture her visions on the Mines campus where she spent so much time the past few years.
