Sweet Harvey is on the spectrum and I expected to face some challenges in coaxing smiles out of him. However, connecting with this sweet little guy turned out to be easier than I could have hoped!
Getting to know him, being silly together, and his huge smiles and infectious giggles set this wonderful family session off on the right foot pretty much instantly! What a little gem! We played peek-a-boo as he climbed up the playground equipment and slid down the slide over and over again. He giggled at my silly sounds and when he tired of that, we let him play while photographing his baby brother Warren or his sweet parents, Annabelle and Nathan. Even when he was tired, Harvey had a blast playing on the playground and exploring the trails we walked on later in the session. This adorable little guy made it so easy to capture the candid, real moments his parents previously only dreamed about - seeing the back of the camera, his mama cried tears of joy seeing REAL smiles and her baby just happily doing his thing.
Goal: achieved!
Annabelle and Nathan are such patient, doting parents. They know their sons so well. They went with the flow of what was working and gave their little guys lots of wiggle room to run around and play during their photos, allowing for many candid, natural moments as well as smooth breaks for little kids who often have short attention spans. These two understood that letting their kids be themselves and focusing on enjoying making memories as a family was better than worrying constantly whether the boys were looking and smiling. Their photos truly reflect this chapter in their story of littles constantly on the move, belly giggles, sweet snuggles, and building a life you love with your best friend.
Nathan and Annabelle, it was such an honor and delight meeting y'all and photographing y'all and your precious boys! I can't wait to see them grow and change, and I know they will always be content and confident in the love and comfort they find in your family!
